Acupuncture 2

Yesterday was the my second treatment and WOW, this Doc went to town on me. I been having this nagging issue with my left shoulder for the past 3 weeks. It's painful as soon as when I wake up and at the gym I can't even lift up a 15lb weight. Well, instead of the traditional doctor I decided to give the Eastern medicine a shot. Also, it's a whole lot cheaper!

So I go in for my second treatment, Dr. Pan started off with a massage as to loosen up the area then comes the needles. This time around he uses 5 needles. He then puts a heat lamp over the needles as to transfer heat into the hurt. After about 15mins the needles are removed followed up with another massage. He now tests to see if the pain has relieved itself by moving my arm around. I twinge "ouch" still there. I'm describing the pain that's deep rooted in the shoulder. Dr. Pan turns me over, face down and proceeds with another massage. Now to meticulously trying to find the spot, he applies 4 more needles, electrodes are hooked up as well in addition to the heat lamp.

Another 15mins later, he returns removes all needles and another massage. Now the arm test...WOW, no more pain. Aside from the soreness of the needles and the deep tissue massage, the pain of the shoulder has dissipated.

Today's Weds. the following day of the acupuncture treatment...I woke up with very little (if at all) pain. Again, aside from the soreness of the needles and the massage I think this shoulder pain has been nipped in the bud, so to speak! HAPPY!!!!!

The usual blaaaah Monday. Chris is not here today making it a little harder. But in the end we'll get through it. Father's Day was yesterday and we didn't do much but that what my Pop's like anyway, low key and quiet evenings. Money is always king and thats what he got.

Breakfast of the day: Cranberry Orange Scone with Black coffee.

Accupucture

So I figured I give Far East medicine a shot! So I tried acupuncture. I've been having this incredible pain in my left shoulder for the past 3 weeks. It's really been affecting my lifting at the gym to the point that I can't even lift up a 10lb weight with my left arm. I'm thinking that it could be a rotator cuff injury like I've had on my right arm years back.
I got to thinking that Physical Therapy is such a costly proposition (also a farce, if you ask me), it's $50 a shot even under healthcare! Why not approach it with an old fashion dose of acupuncture. I've seen it done and tv and have heard great things about and at the least if it doesn't work out it'll be waaaay cheaper than the PT rape!
So onto Chinatown I go and I stumble upon Dr Pan. We discussed my problem and off he went. Started off with a 15 min herbal oil massage on the left shoulder. Then he put 8 needles in me..ouch! The needles stayed in for about 5 mins he then applied heat to the area with a sunlamp. I laid there for 20mins or so and then he removes the needles and finished the procedure with another shoulder massage. Not bad for $40 for a 45 min treatment.
Of course, I couldn't tell if it helped with the first treatment as one would physical therapy. Voodoo or not, I have to give this a shot during my lifetime. My next appointment is next week!

My Friend Andrea

Andrea Watman was her name....
What a sad loss we have encountered, she passed on Tuesday June 14, 2011 due to complications from a fall 3 months ago. The funeral was Thursday the 16th which I attended.
Genuinely the nicest and most generous person I have ever met. Here's a story that I can remember her kindness by; Summer 2009, I was at her desk trading some stories about baseball and how I would love to make it out the the newly opened Citi Field in Queens. I left didn't think much more into the discussion, I head back to my post and start work. Moments later Andrea summons me to pick up the phone, I answer... she says to me "look over at your printer". On the printer was two tickets printed for the Mets game. WOW! What a surprise! I had this crazy Kool-Aid smile on my face people was wondering what was going on with me.
Well there are numerous other stories like this of Andy that I can speak of but I just want to leave you a taste of what kind of a person she was. Oh Boy, she will surely be missed but never forgotten.

My Nike Ad

Here's a quick impromptu video that I put together upon a friends suggestion. My previous video about my love for playing under NYC's 59th St bridge...she stated that it looked like a commercial for Nike. You can look at my old post a few weeks back and you find that video. In this video, I edited it down to the action shots inserted the Nike logo and jazzed it up with some cool music...results: My Nike Ad.

Doughnut Plant's turn

Doughnut Plant's doughnuts good but ain't all that! That's right I said. I love a fried doughnut anyday but I'm just not that impressed. I'll take a fresh Dunkin Donut anyday! They're softer, more variety and easier to handle. Unlike the oversized behemoth fried rings that the Dougnut Plant produces and charges a premium for.

That said, I do enjoy the DP(easy! I know what ya thinkin!) doughnut ocassionally and not to totally badger a friend in the biz....he does use top notch ingredients which is why they're priced the way they are. Either way, I love me my dounuts!
